Why was Jasprit Bumrah frustrated with Hardik Pandya's decision?

How did Shreyas Iyer's catch impact Hardik Pandya's dismissal?
Is there trouble brewing within the Mumbai Indians camp after their loss to Punjab Kings? A viral video on social media suggests that star pacer Jasprit Bumrah was not pleased with captain Hardik Pandya's decision-making during the game.
Mumbai Indians faced their fourth consecutive defeat in the ongoing IPL 2026 campaign as they were comprehensively beaten by Punjab, who chased down the target of 196 in just 16.3 overs, with seven wickets to spare.
Following the loss, a video surfaced on X showing Bumrah visibly frustrated with Hardik. The MI skipper opted to set the field according to his own strategy during a pivotal point in the match, which did not sit well with Bumrah. Although initially argumentative, Bumrah eventually complied with his captain's decision and appeared disappointed.

In the same footage, Hardik was seen animatedly addressing the fielders, indicating his dissatisfaction with the team's effort during the match.
Hardik Pandya did not hold back in his criticism of the team's performance after the loss to PBKS. The MI captain expressed his bewilderment at their display against Punjab and emphasised the need for a thorough evaluation to determine whether significant changes are necessary.
"To be very honest, I have nothing to say at the moment. We need to go back to the drawing board and see what we are lacking. Is it individuals? Is it as a group? Is it planning? We will sit and figure it out soon and then we will see what we can do next," Hardik Pandya stated in the post-match interview.
"We really need to see whether we need to take some bold calls or hope to turn things around with the same group. There are some hard questions which we need to answer and yeah, ownership has to be taken."
Despite notable performances by Quinton de Kock, who scored a century, and Naman Dhir, who contributed a fifty, the rest of the team failed to deliver. Bumrah went wicketless once again and conceded 41 runs in his four overs. Hardik could only get 14 off the 12 balls he faced and conceded 39 runs from the three overs he bowled.
Mumbai Indians are set to face Gujarat Titans in their next crucial encounter on Monday, April 20, in what has become a must-win match for the team.
